Years ago I worked for a non-profit and always had interesting stories to tell from my work. Since then I've worked in PR (which no-one understands) in the IT industry (which no-one understands) and feel quite boring as a result! Trying to explain what I do to someone who doesn't work in the same sector as me is excruciating. Which leaves me, like you, regaling people with tales of my latest sourdough or the chooks' antics!
